Oy3-E-10823 October 8, 1923 REPORT ON TEST OF 32 x 6 TIRES 32"x6" Goodyear tires The 6 tires have run 12,000 miles, and during that distance have punctured three times by picking up as many nails, all being in the rear tires. After 10,000 miles, three punctures occurred, these being due to two old patches coming off, the tire itself being responsible for the third which was caused by a 2" split in the cord casing, allowing tube to chafe. As near as possible 40 lbs. pressure has been maintained, but whenever inflation has been necessary, the pressure has dropped to around 35 lbs. The treads appear good for a considerable distance yet, but as one casing has started cracking, the others may very soon follow suit. The Goodyear tires were noisy when fitted and have remained so although the tread has worn down. 102 CE was recently run to Virginia and return, a distance of 1050 miles. At the end of a day's run, the steering felt a little heavy and also on twisting roads a considerable effort was sometimes necessary to get around corners. I believe it will be found necessary when using large tires to have a larger steering wheel or to decrease the friction in the steering gear, as a considerable amount of force is necessary when manoeuvering in a garage or taking up a position alongside the curb, this being particularly true if tire pressure has dropped.
