ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/Les.3/B.19.10.38 (Contd:-

(d) The frame to be painted with one coat of Harlands Primer as now used by us.

In this way, if at the end of 6,000 frames, Thompsons have decided that they do not want to accept future orders without considerable increase in price, therewill have been £3,000 saved against the next competitive frame price. This cost will have practically paid for Thompsons' tools and will thus allow us to completely re-consider the position.

In actual practice we shall be paying Thompsons slightly more for the frame than the figures mentioned, as we are now adding as many brackets as possible to the frame assembly. These will, of course, be rivited to the frame and will thus reduce to a minimum the labour spent on the frame at Derby. We are therefore getting out a detailed estimate showing the price at which we can buy various additional brackets and have no doubt that Thompsons will agree to the final price which we reach.
