contd :- -3- another variable to the present host. On the whole we have not so far had much success with the contact accelerometer, in fact it has not been nearly so reliable as our exceptionally crude water spilling test. Of course, the main difficulty is that we are trying to measure very small differences whereas most people seem to be highly delighted if they can get a record where the difference between solid and pneumatic tyres is shewn. Our object is to measure differences which we can, only with difficulty, perceive by physical sensation. We should be very interested to hear if you are having greater success in measuring riding comfort, and above all, whether your instrument can with regularity demonstrate the difference between such an alteration as a vertical or 21° shackle on the front springs. lis/W.
