We are unable to obtain petrol pump diaphrams from Paris and would be glad if you would send us a pair as soon as possible. The skin diaphragms we temporarily fitted are working quite satisfactorily, but we think that in the event of putting the pump on the frame side, it would be advisable to fit new ones.

We have had an opportunity of examining No 5 Cylinder exhaust valve which stuck open on our run down from Paris. It appears that the valve stem has picked up at one point due to the presence of burnt oil in the form of carbon in the valve guide. We have cleaned up the stem and guide and are refitting the valve.

We have also noticed two small cracks across No 10 and II valve seats in the Deturbulated head. The exhaust valve seats were in a particularly bad condition due to burning, and we found it necessary to skim up the faces in order to obtain a satisfactory bedding. The job is now satisfactory and we are continuing our tests with the Deturbulated head.
