STEERINGS We have now applied our load test to the steerings of 45 chassis. 38 of these are Bentleys and 7 are Wraiths. Out of these we have broken the rollers in 27 Bentleys and one Wraith. All these rollers have broken with a load on the steering wheel of less than 50' lbs. With regard to the steerings on which we have not broken the rollers when a load of 70' lbs. has been applied to the steering wheel, we have dismantled some of these for examination and find they are not marked. What we now should like to know is, in your opinion, are we in order in despatching chassis, the steerings of which are OK when a load of 70' lbs. is applied to the steering wheel to lock the steering over from lock to lock?
