1021 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SAG.1/ET. 27th March, 1941. Messrs. Walsall Locks & Car Gear Co., Ltd., Neale Street, WALSALL. Attention of Mr. Cooper. Dear Sirs, As arranged with you over the telephone a few days ago, we are sending you under separate cover an Everall lock, so that you may have the follow spring loaded. We have had several instances recently of doors flying open on our test cars, which we find is due to the person closing the door from the inside, pulling the inside handle back, slamming the door thus causing the outside handle to take position occupied when the bolt was withdrawn; the inside handle is then lifted up into the locked position, with the end of the bolt resting against the striking plate which, as you will appreciate, holds the door lock back, and the door is free to swing open. If the follow of the lock is spring loaded so that the outside handle is held in position, we think the fault will be remedied. When the lock is returned, please have it marked "For the attention of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SAG?, Clan Foundry, BELPER". Yours faithfully, | ||
