+ 206. To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} From Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}8/MH.{M. Huckerby}2.10.37. 1-B-IV. REAR BRAKES. We are having a Bentley rear axle fitted with 14" dia. brake drums and steel shoes sent into the shop. Will you please replace the rivets holding the linings with countersunk copper rivets, and then fit the axle to 1-B-IV. There is considerable feeling at present, that Wraith ought to have iron brake drums: we want to make tests on 1-B-IV to see how a combined hand and foot brake works with iron drums and steel shoes.
