Tech.Dept. FOH/AD. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/AW.25/IB. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. 20th September, 1938. Dear Sirs, ORDER No. 67732. (BRGS. GB.2680.) With reference to your valued communication of the 15th inst. regarding the above, we have noted your remarks, and a further two of these bearings have been delivered to you to-day, and seven more will be delivered tomorrow, leaving a balance of one more against your order, which will follow in the course of the next day or two. With regard to the question of introducing these modified bearings on all production chassis, the position of the work in progress is very favourable at the present moment for making an immediate change so that we can for all future deliveries despatch bearings having the elongated holes and the modified pre-loading as called for on your latest drawing. We have spoken to Mr. Hardy of the Experimental Department on the 'phone to-day outlining the position, as he was anxious to introduce the change immediately if at all possible, and further in view of the fact that we had held up the work in progress pending a decision on this, and in response to this telephone conversation are arranging to make the change-over immediately, which we trust will meet with your approval. Yours faithfully, RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO. LTD. DIRECTOR & GENERAL MANAGER. | ||
