A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby, England Dear Mr. Robotham: Our Sales Department have been in correspondence with Mr. Carpenter of British Aero Components with reference to some work your people were doing on the hydraulic lifter, and the sum of it seems to be that your Mr. Bayley informed British Aero Components that you did not find the hydraulics satisfactory due to the necessity of using oil of very low viscosity to overcome difficulty in starting and also the tendency of the valve to ride the tappet. Our Sales Department wrote to Mr. Bayley in January but have never received any reply and I thought I would impose on your good nature and ask if you can give us the story on your experience with the hydraulic lifters. We realize it is rather difficult to work out an application at long distance, but we have had such good results in this Country that we can see no good reason why you should not be able to do the same thing. I do not want you to feel that I am going over anybody's head or asking you to step into some other department, but, as stated before, I am simply imposing on your good nature to see if you cannot straighten us out on just what the trouble has been. I would greatly appreciate any information you could give us on this. With very kind regards to Mr. Elliott and yourself, I remain Yours very truly, WILCOX-RICH, Division of Eaton Manufacturing Company V.{VIENNA} C. Young Engineer | ||
