- 4 - Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL/T19.5.26. CURVE TAKEN WITH LOWER PRESS SPG. THAN STD. IN RELEASE VALVE. Oil Pressure LBS/□" R.P.M. RELIEF VALVE STARTS TO OPERATE. The above curve illustrates this point. The release oil from the main pressure system is maintained at a pressure of about 1 1/4 lbs./sq." by means of a second - "intermediate" - valve and lubricates the rocker gear. The release from this is then kept at a pressure of 1 lb./sq." in a similar manner to supply oil to the timing gears. The remaining oil passes back again to the crankcase. Apart from the exceptionally neat manner of effecting lubrication of the various auxiliaries, in the desired proportion from one source, the system possesses the virtue of added reliability due to the fact that in the event of a failure of the main valve some pressure in the main system is still maintained, and contd. | ||
