X.3481. RE GOSHAWK I ENGINE.
X.3949.

We are running Goshawk I engine on the test bench. We have measured the torque necessary to turn this engine. Below are the figures :-

Starting of Goshawk engine.

(COLD)
| Motor volts. | Amps. | R.P.M. speed. | Initial kick. |
| 9.5 | 96 | 85 | 125 amps. |
| 9.5 | 96 | 85 | -- |

(HOT)
| 10.65 | 47.0 | 140 | 80 amps. |
| 10.65 | 48.0 | 145 | - |

40/50 Starter Motor with total reduction of 12 to 1.

We have also taken again the figures for the amount of advance required with the Goshawk engine. We have taken these figures by means of a drum fixed to the dynamometer shaft and taken a high tension wire from one of the plugs to this drum to mark exactly where the spark takes place. These figures can be taken as correct. The figures given in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG14.4.21 should not be worked to.
