re. FRAMED PATCH OF INSTRUMENTS.
Handwritten: X7530

R.{Sir Henry Royce} wishes us to make these a standard fitting on SS.{S. Smith}
We have asked you to get enough sets to enable them to be fitted to all experimental Indias and SS.{S. Smith} cars. They should be fitted to 20-EX. and 14-G-4. in the place of the Hooper grouped system as soon as possible.

We understand that Barker's say they have never been shewn our framed instruments, and that they would like to be able to buy them.

Hooper's (in confidence) may soon have a system of their own.

We are told that although one of our patches was in the showroom for 6 months, no one would have one fitted. There must have been criticisms which should have been sent to WW. in order that we might modify the design to make it saleable. Would Sales let us have these.

We suggest that one of the next set of patches have black dials, and white figures and hands, behind a black mount. This might look more dignified.

Also we suggest a bead of this section be used for the frame, thus:
[Hand-drawn sketch of a frame profile with a dimension marked 'a']
The dimension 'a' should be as small as possible to reduce the appearance of heaviness.

The finish of the black mount might be improved with advantage.

Would Derby please incorporate these modifications.
