KV8/25.11.32.cont. 606 38.000ins. The shape of the bonnet at the back of the radiator and at the scuttle face, section "A" are correct, but the bonnet length has been increased due to the moving forward of the radiator in all about 3.000ins. This will make the bonnet narrower at the back edge due to the slower angle of taper. Therefore for the first two cars for which we have bodies made to the original dimensions it will be necessary for you to widen the dash the required amount approx .200ins a side at the bonnet rest. We suggest that for the first cars you use the present riveted on bonnet rest angle instead of the rubber sprung over the cast lip on the dash so that you can make the bonnet to suit the body and then fasten the bonnet rest angle on to the dash to suit. We understand that BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is producing a layout of the bonnet as it will be used finally and future Bodies will be made to that drawing. N.Sch.3569. shews the latest bonnet eye at the dash. RADIATOR. The original Schemes for the radiator were N.Schs.3561, 2,& 6. The subsequent modifications are N.Schs.3588 and 3606. which shew the mods. due to the change to the J.I. unit. DASHBOARD. Our schemes for this were N.Sch 3534 & 5. and steering support N.Sch.3528. We see that there is a dashboard detail drawing. We have done nothing with the layout of the units on the dash as we have got none. The chief features which interest us are that the distribution box shall be in the centre of the dash and that the controls for the dampers shall be 3.250 to 3.500 to one or,other side of the centre-line of the car. FRONT AXLE. It has now been agreed that this can be exactly the same as Pere 2. REAR AXLE. This is the same as Pere.2. with the exception of the use of 10 x 41 gears. The large brake drums N.Sch.3571. should be used. WHEELS AND HUBS. For the first two cars we are using R.W.TYPE WHEELS. with 5.500 tyres on 18 ins. rims. STARTING HANDLE & FRONT CROSSMEMBER. These sections are shewn on N.Sch.3583. CROSS STEERING TUBE. This has been set out for the 14ins, drums on N.Sch.3578. SIDE STEERING TUBE. This was set out here on N.Sch.3552. and was redrawn by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} on F.B.95. PETROL TANK. This is exactly the same as Pere.2. BATTERY AND BOX. The battery and box are the same as Pere.2. but with a modified rear bracket for the rear as the battery crossmember is further back. See D.Sch.593. | ||
