I have now defined the limits within which the car designer must, I think, operate as these limits are defined on the one hand by aerodynamic laws, and on the other by the laws of motion and are not susceptible to change by human agency. Within these limits, however, there is a wide scope and I will now describe how I am my associates have tried to construct a practical car within these defined limits.

During the past three years we have built a series of eleven cars. Each car has differed from the previous one in many details and an attempt has been made in each successive car to remove defects and gradually evolve an efficient mechanical construction, easy of production and of pleasing appearance.

The features that have been incorporated in addition to those already enumerated are:-

1. Ventilation of the car has been achieved by attention to streamlining and allowing windows being open without draughts or rain entering.
2. Wind noise is almost eliminated so that there is little if any more noise at 60 m.p.h. than at 40 m.p.h.
3. Ample luggage space has been provided, allowing the luggage to be locked up under cover.
4. Lamps have been enclosed, but so mounted as to give a side beam sufficient to illuminate sign posts.
5. Large steering lock for traffic work has been provided.
6. Side fenders for protection in city traffic are fitted in the form of running boards.
7. Adequate heating in winter and cooling in summer has been provided by the radiator system installed.
8. Better road visibility close to the car is achieved.
9. Two spare wheels are carried locked up and under cover.
10. Good head room and wide doors for access to the car have been provided for both front and rear passengers.
