( 3 ) FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH (Contd) Upon dismantling, the condition of the whole of the clutch was good. GEAR BOX. LOP. G.54794 Complete to the above LOP incorporating :- NS.{Norman Scott}4677 Mod. to 2nd speed to prevent working out. NS.{Norman Scott}4697 Oil Seal for brake countershaft in gear box. N° 4I/4690 Hoffman Bearing at rear of 3rd Motion Shaft The gears were a good standard for silence, ease of change consistent, box free from oil leaks. The Change speed lever free from rattle. SERVO. LOP. G.57070 Complete to the above LOP incorporating :- NS.{Norman Scott}4406-4428-4457 Disc type Damper for suspension bracket. NS.{Norman Scott}4735 Mod. to servo and bracket pedal stop. G.57158 Pressure Plate. - G.57159 Pressure Plate. G.57162 Friction Lining. - G.57160 Friction Plate. Servo operating levers produced in S/ZNX. The Servo was effecient, a slight squeak at times was noticeable from the friction discs, condition good when examined. STEERING COLUMN & BOX LOP F.6108I C TYPE NS.{Norman Scott}4446-9 Complete to the above LOP and scheme Marles type incorporating :- F.60968 Steering Wheel .700 lead cam F.60995 F.87682 Cam roller. - Timken bearings 31C & 32X The steering has been free from excessive shocks or joggles. There has been on occasions when hitting a pot hole, reaction from the steering has been felt. With full completement of passengers the car over-steers, the springs in the side steering tube being too weak. With driver and passenger only, it is stable. The steering is light for manoeuvring, in traffic, self centers readily. We are of the opinion that a better view of the instruments and general handling of the wheel would be better with the wheel position reversed, i.e. two spokes at the top instead of the one. The box has lost very little oil, no definate leaks observable. Controls free from rattle. FRONT & REAR BRAKES. LOP G.56807 - LOP G.56534 Complete to the above LOP - Standard Production The Brakes gave trouble early on in the mileage. The rear squeaked considerably, the pilots shoes having collapsed. The O.S. rear brake toggle actuating shaft seized in the anchorage [Stamped on left margin]: MARTINDALE | ||
