UNIVERSAL PATTERN FOR THE PRODUCTION OF
3 3/4, 3 1/2, 3 1/4, and 75 mm. BORE - 6-CYLINDER.ENGINES

Drawings : RE.269. RE.106.
RE.693. RE.136.

With reference to memo Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/ML.9.5.41, we have noted your remarks re completion of the above Crankcase Pattern equipment without interfering with urgent war work.

In a recent conversation between your Mr. Salt and myself, it was agreed that it would be a wise policy for you to instruct to us your latest drawings to date, as most probably owing to these jobs having been in abeyance for a considerable period, it is possible that certain D.O. modifications have been in hand without the Pattern Dept. being notified. Therefore we shall be pleased to learn if any design alteration may have occurred, then we can proceed to complete Pattern work, and give these jobs our best attention.

It should be noted that paragraph 3 of your memo is somewhat incorrect; our memo Sft{Mr Swift}/EW/WP.13.10.40 fully explains the position that the piece numbers, RE.269, RE.693, RE.106 and RE.136 will be produced by altering pattern, number EB.4919 - approx, 750 hours will be required to make these alterations.

For the B.80, entirely new pattern equipment was in progress, for EB.5079, which would take a matter of about 14 days to complete on receipt of your instruction to proceed, as a large percentage has already been completed.
