29.G.VI.

This car has a good ride at speed and is free from pitching there appears to be more damping than usual and it is inclined to be harsh at low speeds.

The body is bad for wind noise and the front windows rattle badly if partially open - the glass lacks adequate side support. The windscreen wipers flutter badly in the wind or when going fast and the tension on the blade does not seem sufficient.

This car has a better performance than the standard and in top gear the acceleration above 20 m.p.h. is noticeably better.

The speedometer is about 7% slow on a known mileage and the maximum speed reached was 82 m.p.h.

There is a noticeable engine period at 53 m.p.h. in top and 42 m.p.h. in 3rd. There is also a period at 60 m.p.h. in top and on one occasion after some miles at full throttle this seemed worse but improved later. The exhaust is quite with no serious booms. The brakes are light with slight squeaks on light applications and would be improved with slightly more load to the front brakes. The air cushion fitted to stop the thump in release was effective but the spring in it is too strong and if the hand brake is applied before the foot is released the stop light remains on.

Both petrol pumps are audible and the noise seems to travel up the steering column. The petrol pipe from the flexible pipe to the carburetter is not held by a clip and should be secured to prevent the risk of a fracture.

The steering is light and positive but slight joggles are evident both cornering and braking. The worst feature is the bad column shake.

The throttle pedal tickles the foot.
