To P.N. from B.J. Copies to... R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} O.J. W.W. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X457 STEERING. With reference to H1/M11.8.25, O.J. considers it will be of assistance to R.{Sir Henry Royce} if you will kindly arrange to take the demonstration car to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town in as nearly as possible the condition of tyres, wheels, steering, etc. as it was in when the wobble occurred. It is appreciated that the wobble cannot be produced at will, and only occurs on occasions, but it would probably assist R.{Sir Henry Royce} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to-morrow if they could examine the car. Will you kindly ascertain from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} at what time he expects to be at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, and advise R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the telephone that in accordance with O.J's request, you will be at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town at the same time, with the car? B.J. P.S. Since dictating the above, I have spoken to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and W.W. and have wired Hives as follows:- "Mr Royce wishes see you West WitteringHenry Royce's home town to-morrow Thursday concerning wobbles: Bailey is writing fully latest information to London: Northey is driving West WitteringHenry Royce's home town to-morrow: what time will you arrive London: regret interrupting holiday which should be prolonged by time lost visiting West WitteringHenry Royce's home town". The arrangement now is: 1. Mr Hives will come to London from Sheringham on Thursday, to drive with P.N. to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. 2. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will post to-day to B.J. two copies of latest information concerning wobbles. (Hives' address is Mansfield House, New Street, Sheringham.) | ||
