This is to put on record our further decision about the modifications to the centre part of the Wraith axle, deleting the present dip stick level arrangement. The centre case itself should be to the P.III part number complete with filler, breather and drain plug. The level plug is now in the end plate which holds the Sohats bearing. An experiment showed that this cannot be screwed straight into the plate after spot facing. It is necessary to forge a boss on the outside of the end plate and screw this for the level plug, the inside of the end plate could then be machined to give a +.015 limit on the thickness of the metal.
