Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c.R.H.C. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X1020 Laboratory. 20.9.35. Two Bentley bearings in the Aluminium Tin Alloy which have showed transverse cracks were found to have steel backs high in Carbon i.e. (0.33 to 0.36%). This has caused poor adhesion. Thus bad adhesion as well as blowholes are liable to occur with high carbon steel. This confirms the importance of using steel with not more than 0.25% carbon, L.C.M. steel for instance. Hl. He | ||
