Bentley Side Filler Cap.

Difficulty was experienced with the existing aluminium gun rack, which owing to its small diameter would not admit a nozzle frequently met with in France.

A trial was made to overcome this difficulty by simply removing the existing gun rack, but several of the older type Bowser nozzles and other makes still frequent in this country would not remain in place.

The diameter of the rack has been increased to 1.675" on FB.2589 from 1.50" on the existing rack F.88574. It is possible to fit the new rack to the existing arrangement by simply removing the old piece. This has been done in the case of B-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} It is then found that the older type nozzles do not fall out, and it was possible to fill with the garage pump at the maximum rate of 15.5 gallons per min. without the petrol regurgitating. This is a similar nozzle to an electric pump. A model of the French nozzle was made and entered without difficulty.
