x7530 To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}4/LGS.5.29. 23-EX AND 16-G4. X7530 X5530 X7800 We thank you for your letter re. the lamps for the cars. We appreciate that we have been kept up to date on the matter of the recent cars and on investigation find that all the lamps in the Stores were out of date. A great many of them were ordered for the RR. dipping head lamp scheme which has now been abandoned and in consequence were obsolete. We do not appear to have a surplus stock of lamps for India or S.S. at present. We wired you with reference to the instrument patch on 16-G4. We are anxious to fit the patch to N.Sch.2836 to this car. We have no further sets of the original design N.sch.2224 left and so whatever we fit to the cars will have to be specially made. We therefore are rather anxious to fit N.sch.2836 to 23-EX also although this will mean making a new instrument board which however is not a very serious matter. We think that this is a feasible proposition although it will increase the depth of the instrument board by approx. 1". We do not think this will damage a normal size man's knees to any extent. If you agree therefore we shall prepare 2 sets of patch instruments to N.sch.2836. We have 3 sets of cream faced instruments in stock for the patch instrument board and as we know Mr.Royce favours this figuring, we propose to adopt them in both patches | ||
