X. 1152. Extract from Mr Ionides' letter of 25.2.14 in X.948. "I think it important that the spring damper connection, The slit lower leaves, and possibly the Houdaille damper, be all tried simultaneously on the same car, is this convenient ? My point which I have explained to Mr Johnson, is that the discomfort arises not from any one defect in the springing, but from several. That th cure or improve one feature may make a difference so slight as to be overlooked. That we ought therefore to remove all the causes which theory indicates as possibly contributing; and then, to test the practical effect of the change, revert to the present conditions one at a time." | ||
