To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BYWRD.3/B.26.10.37. Battery Failures on Chassis B.28.KT & B.164.KT. B.28.KT. No.4 cell in this battery had an internal short circuit. The battery was opened up in the presence of the Maker's representative, and a small plate of lead was discovered wedged between the plates, and extending upwards, touching the main bar. It was not the first occasion that this has happened in their experience, despite the fact that they take precautions to prevent the entry into the cell of any foreign material. B.164.KT. Bad joint between the inter cell connecting link and the negative lug on cell No.6. This too, was opened up at the same time and the evidence showed that the burning operation between the inter connecting link and the lug had been inadequately carried out. Actual contact was only made round the upper surface of the connecting link. In both cases a free of charge replacement will be provided, and as the matter calls for more rigid inspection at the makers' end, they promised to do this. BY/RD. | ||
