Dear Sirs, We beg to inform you that we have become Sole Agents for a small device which allows the driver of a motor vehicle to see at a glance the viscosity of the lubricating oil and we intend to produce this article in this country as soon as possible. Viscosity is the most important single property for lubricating oils. In a bearing operating properly it guarantees the fluid film and determines friction, heat generation and rate of flow. If the oil is replaced too late this means damage and stopping of the engine, if replaced too early it means an expensive annual oil consumption. The device described in the enclosed booklet and patented under No 356721 is therefore of the greatest value for the maintenance of the engine and will surely find your special interest. The Visco-Meter body is fastened to the crankcase higher than the oil level on a possibly vertical flange of 1-5/16 x 2". If there is no flange available a Spillway can be delivered extra which is screwed in by its 1/4" pipe thread. If it is not desired to have on the dashboard two separate instruments for oil pressure and viscosity we can deliver a so named Duplex Gauge which also fits the usual 2" hole but indicates oil pressure as well as voscosity. The Visco-Meter is already in U.S.A. standard equipment on Hercules Diasel Engines, Diamond Trucks, Cleveland Tractors, etc, but would be also very useful for cars and industrial engines. We quote you this device with Standard Gauge at 28/- resp, with Duplex Gauge at 33/- and the Spillway at 2/7d nett M/A.{Mr Adams} packed ex our factory for quantities of 1 to 499 meters. These prices include solderless connections but no tubing. The Industrial Visco-Meter mentioned on page 13 of the booklet weighing 14 lbs would cost you £42 - nett ex our factory.
