Suction Chamber Washer" in which I state that some special washers have been ordered to my instruction 13131 and explain what experiments should be made. Please find attached copy of this note. I have also some months ago raised this matter with Mr Royce and Mr Royce remarked that this chamber was intended to be only hand tight and any means for applying a tool would be utilized for making it more tight than we desired in addition to being used for removing the suction chamber. It was decided at Derby to strike at the root of the trouble and make a few simple experiments with lead, copper, asbestos and special fibre washers and to [STAMPED] W.M.
