Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} 9. Valve Gear Wear on 30.G.VII. In view of the design investigation which is going to be made on valve gear, it is considered to be desirable to inspect 30.G.VII valve parts after 75,000 miles running, as soon as this can be conveniently arranged. 10. Replacement 8-cyl. engine for 30.G.VII It was considered that the engine in 30.G.VII would shortly want replacing. The 8-cyl engine at present in the shop is going to be re-built. The crankshaft should be submitted to Ry. for examination, as it is thought that this was the cause of the previous bearing failures; a crack having been discovered in the centre journal bearing. 11. Combustion Chamber designs for 75 mm. and 3¼ bore High Power Engines. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} said that both these had been completed. It was agreed that the 75 mm. should come down to 6¼ : 1, and the 3¼ to 6.4 : 1. Jnr{Charles L. Jenner} will instruct accordingly. 12. Mechanical Petrol Pumps. One of these is at present being fitted to 9.B.V. and another to the 4-cyl engine as soon as circumstances permit. All new engines will be built with these pumps. 13. Position of Buick Pivots. Wyn. said that the mock up pivot giving the same out-of-centre p int as the Buick will be ready in a few days. Ra/Hl. will check that these pivots give the same geometry as the Buick pivots before they are tested. 14. Specification for 3-litre, 3½ litre and 4¼ litre high Power 6-cyl. Engines. Ra/CJS. will get these out as opportunity occurs and discuss them with Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} -Continued- | ||
