contd :- -2- seatings may start a crack. It has been arranged that the next cylinders we are building shall have seatings nearer the final size and no excessive pressure will be used in screwing them home. We are removing the valve seats from one block and investigating how the water is getting through. The ball bearing which locates the top of the vertical shaft in the wheelcase was badly damaged - there does not appear any adequate means of oiling this when the gas starting distrib- utor feed is not connected as in this engine. The rest of the engine appears to be in excellent condition. It would appear that the alteration to the cyl. of the drilled water ways and taper on the outside of the liners has overcome the troubles. The engine was run with the main pressure oil connected to the valve gear, because there was signs of insufficient oil when run on the low pressure. FX.2. This engine is running again fitted with another cyl. to replace the one which broke through the combustion chamber. The engine is being run for power investigation. With four carburetters we have been able to obtain the following power :- contd :- | ||
