V 355 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/MJ.14.8.36. PHANTOM 111 WEIGHT. / We are appalled at the weight of the Phantom 111. Inspite of the shorter chassis, smaller engine, and greater use of light alloys the first six Phantom 111's delivered to customers average out 1 cwt. heavier than the last six Phantom 11's. / We are having a shot at making our Continental Phantom 111, which has been handed over to the Experimental Dept. as a job of work, a reasonably light motorcar and we should like to have your assistance. In certain cases weight can be got off by just altering material thickness and/or specification. We attach a list of these simple alterations. On other parts a certain amount of scheming is required. These are following along. I believe we can get 3½ cwt. off the chassis and a lot of cost at the same time. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
