W/S. C. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T. V5830 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG30.3.25. 'INDIA' BODIES. V5830 For the particular purpose for which we wish to use these bodies, we consider that open bodies are the most satisfactory. We wish to use these bodies for 10,000 miles tests in France. We have had plenty of experience both with open and closed cars on this job. We find that closed bodies develop so many rattles, squeaks and noises that the body noises obscure the chassis noises. The closed body used on the 40/50 tests was scrapped when we had finished with it, whereas, the open bodies can still be used. Covered bodies will not stand the treatment of 500 miles running per day. Also for safety from the drivers' point of view, they prefer not to be surrounded with plate-glass. We shall be asking for covered bodies for 'India' as well, but we were waiting for the latest scheme of sub-frame so that we can test this at the same time. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
