PEREGRINE IGNITION ADVANCE We have carried out some tests to ascertain the correct ignition advance for Peregrine at various speeds. We attach a curve No. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}Pr.21 which shows that the total ignition advance required is only some 12° between 1,000 and 5,000 R.P.M. Tests on 'China' with the J.I cylinder head, showed somewhat similar results, the total ignition advance required being slightly less than 20°. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. has suggested that since so little ignition advance is required by these engines it might be possible to simplify the governor providing the automatic range.
