Thermostatic Control of Water Temperature for
Cars with Dummy Shutters.

We understand that there is a possibility of
dummy shutters (as per Packard) being used on either the
Bentley or the new 20/25 HP. cars.

This will of course necessitate thermostatic
valve control of the water temperature.

We should like to point out that neither the
existing designs of thermostatic valve arrangement - Bentley
and Ph.III - are satisfactory from a production point of view;
i.e., the British Thermostat people tell us that it is not a
practicable production proposition to make bellows of the size
we specify to give the accuracy of control we think desirable.

Our suggestions (based on our discussion with
the British Thermostat Co.) are that the diameter of the valve
and bellows should be as large as possible, and that the
bellows should be as long as possible, and that the pressure
areas of the bellows and valve should be accurately balanced.

We attach herewith some scheme used by other firms.
We should like you to return them after inspection.
