X 3450 I do not feel satisfied with the present movement which we have with the above, especially on "A" and "B" type steering chassis. The best position of the clutch pedal itself is obtained by the adjustment of the various connecting links to the clutch actuating levers themselves, and we certainly do not feel as though we can have the pedal any lower, otherwise we shall not be able to satisfactorily disengage the clutch before the pedal comes against the floorboards. In this position the upward movement of the pedal is then very limited, owing to it coming against the pedal plate, and we suggest that the existing domes of the pedal plate be increased in height so as to allow more movement, this being necessary so as to allow for wear and tear on the clutch, as at present the clutches wear, especially when the chassis is fairly new, allowing the pedal to come up against the plate, causing constant slipping of the clutch, the cause of which the driver is not likely to realise until he has burnt out the clutch fabric. I shall be glad if you will let us know whether it is proposed to make any alteration to this, when it may be expected, and whether we can supply any improvement to the existing cars. Please give me all possible information on this job so that I can take same up with our outside Depots. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
