1263 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}12/JH. 21st. January, 1939. The S.U. Company Ltd., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM8. For the attention of Mr. Cooper. Dear Sirs, We have received a further 3 high pressure petrol pump with the cast iron pots. These are not quite to the specification we asked for and we would like the following points altered. (1) The new position of the vent hole in the housing is not at the lowest points (i.e.) in line with the bottom fixing screw. (2) The Tufnol bushes are not definitely located in the core. We should like these pressed into a counter bore and the outside edge of the core peened over to hold the bush. The presenttype is apt to work loose and slide up and down the hole in the core. Also the hole in the bush should be chamfered and the bush set into the core so as not to work in the threaded portion of the spindle. We are ordering a further 6 sets of these pumps and would like these alterations incorporated. Also as we are fitting them with a rubber sleeve to exclude water we do not require the earthing terminal and would like it replaced by a screw. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
