Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 354 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/AP.12.11.37. Phantom III. Valve Timing. (1)Will you please modify the tappet setting as given on the Timing diagram (E.88761) from an adjustment of .006 clearance between the valve stem end and rocker to .008 clearance cold. This diagram applies to the camshaft for the solid rocker gear for which a Standardisation Sheet is in circulation. (2) Regarding the timing diagram E.87329 which is applicable to present production with the hydraulic mechanism, the adjustment of the clearance between valve stem end and the rocker given as .006 should be .015 clearance with the hydraulic plunger fully depressed. (3) Production request that we have a common ignition advance setting to which we have no objection. The present settings on both timing diagrams are B.A.I.-15° before TDC. and A.A.I.-13° before TDC. The recommendations are that the common setting be A.{Mr Adams} & B.A.I.15° TDC. and the diagrams modified accordingly, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
