Test of Dynamo Belts and Fan Belts.

If we had the three voltage supply three wire system mentioned in another letter i.e. 75V., 125V. & 200V. the motor mentioned above could be run at varying speeds conveniently (later improvements)½

As the above-mentioned counter-shaft would take practically no power, if well fitted up, the conditions as to speed, pulley diameters, makes of belts could be easily obtained by seeing how both belts behaved, very exact comparisons could be made and proved.

From the results of the experiments I do not think that much good will be obtained by running the webs on a stretching rig, the results shew, I think, that the ½ belt is not suitable rather than it first stretches and wears to a bed on the pins and then settles down i.e. it seems to go on wearing and stretching until it breaks.
