X.4013. X.8230. X.5230. EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. Referring to E.1/M3.10.11 we are attaching herewith copies of memos dealing with this subject which indicate the present position of the job. It was decided that the best means of testing out these modifications was to get them on customers' cars where they would be subject to hard work and where their relative merits could be watched. We have no cars here in Derby (of the type to which these manifolds apply) which are doing sufficient hard work to enable any reliable data to be obtained. We have therefore sent them to Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} who is fitting them on special customers' cars. We have requested Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} to inform us monthly on the progress of the tests. He/A.J.Lidsey.
