HM{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/Dwg.15/RH{R. Hollingworth}/20.6.35. Flexible Petrol Piping. With reference to the above, and recent flooding trouble experienced on the 20/25 HP. and Bentley carburettors. Tests have been carried out to ascertain the amount of foreign matter which comes solely from the flexible piping. A rig was fitted up, enabling the flexes to have a continuous flow of petrol through the bores, having firstly made sure that the remainder of the system was free from dirt, swarf, etc. The flexible pipes used were taken from production and blown through with compressed air, an operation which is carried out on production before fitting to a chassis. The attached photographs show the amount of foreign matter loosened and washed through the bores of the flexes by the stream of petrol. HM{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/J.C.Bowering.
