For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sirs,

We require for use on an experimental car, a thermostat to our EB.3509 (Bentley production type) with an opening temperature of 68-70°C instead of the standard 75-77°C. Will you please prepare and send us such a thermostat as soon as possible.

For an experimental radiator using pressure cooling which we intend to test, we require a thermostatic relief valve similar in principle to the one you supply experimentally to our Aero Dept. On the top tank of our car radiator there is not sufficient room for the Aero type valve so we have sketched a simplified and more compact version as shown on the attached SCD.1178. Will you please let us know whether you think this is a practical arrangement and could be made to work.

An official order for the special Bentley thermostat will follow.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
