-2- and therefore relief should be obtained by the use of soft water. Also T 50 L., alloy appears to be a big improvement and will help us in the future. However, since a similar trouble to a reduced extent has been found on pre-aluminium head cars it would seem to be necessary to protect the whole of the inside of the water system against corrosion. Now that an estimate has been obtained as to the exact nature of the trouble and how to deal with it, depots should be able to clear radiators as the cars come in at usual intervals for over-haul. This should prevent complaints, for we have no evidence that an F.2.B series radiator can become choked in less than 20,000 miles if it is filled with clean soft water. All the S.S. cylinder heads have been made in Hall's metal so that we are in a better position on these cars. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
