1044. To EJJ/JV. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} c. Millwrights. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}2.9.38. B.60 ENGINE No.5 TEST HOUSE. It is anticipated that the first B.60 engine will be ready for test on the 14th. of this month, and we should like to have the bed equipped with the necessary tackle by this date. The above job is as instructed by us in our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}14.7.38 coupled with the requisition sheet 6432/B. As pointed out in the same memo the first engine is out of date so far as the suspension is concerned, but from the second engine this has been modified. Will you therefore, instruct for the necessary tackle to house the second engine onwards, the modifications being as follows:- (1) New high engine mounting to ECD.785, the tackle to be solid and not rubber as shown. (2) The gearbox will be available for these engines, under which the rear mounting is taken, also to be solid and not rubber. (3) By the inclusion of the gearbox the dynamometer drive shaft will be altered. (4) Clutch actuating mechanism required. We attache herewith sheet B.5208 to cover the job.
