ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To E.7.C Date 14 - 10 - 1929 Order No. WD{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}81 Customer's No. X 8710 Charring condition of ignition coil primary cotton covered wire. We have conducted two experiments to determine the temperature at which the cotton insulation of the primary wire chars. Firstly the temperature was ascertained by heating a length of wire by passing an electric current through it. until the cotton charred and then measuring the resistance. In this case the charring temp calculated was approx 340°C. Secondly the wire was heated by placing it in an oven, the temperature being measured by Signed (contd) This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. RR 238 (150 BKS.)
