Mr. Hives Car.

With reference to our telephone talk of to-day, because we realised at the start the importance of this car being returned to you at the very earliest possible moment, it has received especial attention being given preference over all other cars in our Service Department.

Overtime, including week-ends, has been worked continuously, but in spite of this we do not feel justified in undertaking to have the car ready for collection from these Works before Tuesday the 12th August, and to achieve this means that we must continue to work week-ends and overtime.

As soon as you can, please say just when we may expect your man for the car. In the meantime, there are two queries we would like you to settle.

The first concerns the colour of the car; the repairs as you will appreciate are very extensive, and it will be essential in consequence to repaint all the nearside of the car. The existing finish is one of the so-called metallic celluloses, and we cannot hope to exactly match it because it has age-changed, so that to make a decent job we ought to respray the entire car. Bearing this in mind, do you want us to respray it in the same metallic cellulose as originally, or would you like to take the opportunity of having it "camouflaged". It could be finished like Mr. Sidgreaves B.V. or in a dull grey, or anything else desired. As the present colour is a shade of green, it occurs to us that you might like a green camouflage, assuming you want this sort of finish, so we are enclosing herewith a small panel shewing two shades of green which we have employed on other cars we have been
