Leyland Continuation of a letter From LEYLAND MOTORS LIMITED, -2- 3. General Sections: it is possible to obtain satisfactory castings of .175 general section. We look upon 5/32" as being the minimum thickness for any die casting. 4. Die casting of cylinder block and crankcase: if the combined block and crankcase are designed for a die casting, it would be possible to produce them. Before making a definite recommendation we would much prefer to see a drawing of the crankcase in question. In a case of this sort it would probably be better to use sand cores and dies for the external parts of the job. we understand that the Austin Seven crankcases are made in this manner. Yours faithfully, p.p. LEYLAND MOTORS LIMITED. Milkington S Manager, Engineering Dept. | ||
