Re: CHASSIS B.27.LE - Mr. EMBIRICOS.

(Mileage as per speedometer reading: 7761)

The above car has been sent to us in order for us to attend to a complaint of exhaust leaks.

Upon examination, we found the following to be the cause:

Two of the 4 F.9445 rivets which hold the EB.795 anchor bracket of the expansion box were missing and two were slack.

We should mention that, as we do not possess an arrangement drawing of the exhaust fittings for the above series of chassis, the above mentioned part numbers and those mentioned below were taken from EB.1155 arrangement drawing of exhaust fittings.

As soon as we removed the expansion box, we found that something was slack in it internally, which could not be removed by shaking it.

Upon reference to the arrangement drawing, we came to the conclusion that it was the EB.1289 baffle that had become detached. We therefore cut the expansion box in two, one inch from the point where the baffle is fixed to the expansion box. We were correct in our assumption, because the baffle was found to be detached and deformed. As we did not possess a new expansion box, we reformed and re-welded it into position, and then re-welded the two halves of the expansion box together.

the baffle

We shall be glad if you will kindly arrange to have sent to us an arrangement drawing with corresponding L.O.P.s. of the "Exhaust Fittings", as fitted to the above series of chassis.

Sr/VA.
