F.H. Royce Esq. 2. tapped holes, one at each end, central, with wide face. With regard to the joint between the moving core and plunger rod you will see that we have followed out your suggestions in returning to the solid head for the rod and the slack pin in the moving core. Also we have shown a ½" bolt and ferrule in the cross bar bottom articulation joint, thus doing away with the necessity for sloppy links. Drawing No. B.171 shows the piston as suggested by you (alternative 1) and also another suggestion, a one piece piston idea. Further suggestions for pistons are shown on drawing B.171..A. Alternatives 2 and 3 are developments of our suggestion on B.171 while alternative 4 is a piston exactly as suggested by you but held between a shoulder on the shaft and a tube fixed on rod. Other makers use a cast iron piston simply fixed by a parallel pin rivetted over at each end, as shown in alternative 5. This concludes our remarks on brake Solenoids. Types of Insulating Material. Three further samples of insulating material have come to hand from Messrs. H.E. Ashdown (Birmingham) Ltd, Perry Bar, Birmingham. These samples are - 1 Lamp Holder and 2 bases, and we are forwarding them to you under separate cover. General. We enclose a copy of letter received from The Turner Asbestos Co., and you will note their remarks re drilling of Sindanyo. Before placing order with Messrs. Turner Brothers, we tried, and had no difficulty in drilling a sample piece of Sindanyo by hand. With regard to the particular piece on order Messrs. Turner brothers promised to despatch same from their works today and immediately it comes to hand we will forward it on to you. As a matter of interest we also enclose a circular letter and leaflet by The Wharton Crane and Hoist Co.Ltd. who are amongst our competitors for the class of goods which we manufacture. The October issue of A.E.G. Progress, which we enclose, contains a description of the methods which Messrs. A.E.G. employ in the building of their Transformers. The illustrations in this journal are exceptionally clear and we thought you would be contd. | ||
