EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}11/JH. 26th March, 1938. MAY 27th The British Thermostat Co.Ltd., Teddington Works, Windmill Road, Sunbury-on-Thames, MIDDLESEX. For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst. Dear Sirs, I wrote to you some time ago concerning the thermostat working in conjunction with the S.U. starting device. Although the later type unit which you sent is working satisfactorily we have heard of several failures on other cars due to metal particles on the magnet. We wish to know if it is at all feasible to consider doing away with the magnet, as we consider that this is likely to cause considerable trouble, small particles of metal present in the casing eventually finding their way to the magnets. Once this happens, the working of the automatic system is put completely out of time. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
