S/W. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} URGENT. SECRET. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}8/JL.29.8.38. 600a As you doubtless know, we are giving one or two special opportunities to well-known Press Representatives to try the Show type 25/30 h.p. in advance of the announcement, so that they may have some articles ready to publish about the time of the announcement and thereby provide us with some material to quote in our advertisements. I now ask you whether you can help us to do the same thing with regard to the Show type Bentley. We are having two Trials Cars finished for the date of the announcement, but I doubt very much whether they will be ready sufficiently in advance of that date to enable us to give Press Representatives a similar opportunity of trying them so as to have some articles ready in the Press at the date of the announcement. Would it be possible, therefore, for you to let us have the use of a good experimental car which would be similar to the production chassis, on which we could give a few preliminary demonstration runs? If you will let me know whether such an arrangement is possible - and I hope it will be - we will then try to arrange a programme of dates which will give you some information as to how long we would like to have the car available.
