Re further to our report JB. 31 20.12.23. the following are points in which it differs from our specn.No.301. (1) Capacity of Battery. The rated capacity is 78 ampere-hours, but on actual discharge only gives approx. 44 ampere hours on the 10 hour rate. This is much less than our specification asks for, which states it should not be less than 65 amperes hours (actual). (2)a(3) Short period output and internal resistance at minimum. This battery does not comply with this item, as it only maintains a current in excess of 104 amperes for 2.5 mins. whilst our specification asks for the above current to be easily maintained for 6 minutes. (4) Charging Rate. This item will be proved according to the life of the battery. (5) Material of Cell Boxes. Made of ebonite, shows liability to crack. (6) Case of Battery. The case is of polished wood to which are attached convenient handles for lifting purposes. The cells are loose in the case, with about 3/16" play at the sides of the box and no central stay bolt is fitted so that the cells would receive more jolting when on a car than if a stay was fitted. (7) Weight of Battery. The weight of the battery is 92 lbs. Our specification states it should not exceed 115 lbs. (8) Overall dimensions of Battery. Dimensions Quoted Co. Dimensions Actual.
