Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.24/KW.16.9.36 I was with Professor Dodds yesterday evening. I am sorry to say that the missing is now very much worse than it ever was before. He naturally is very tired of it, especially after having allowed Derby to have it as long as they liked when he went away at the end of July. I went out with him and it missed at quite slow speeds on almost every 'get-away'. We stopped and changed over the polarity of the coil. This made no difference. We stopped again and changed the wires over to the spare coil. This still made no difference, i.e. it rules the coil out as a possible source of trouble. It seems pretty evident that his trouble is with plugs because, when he first got it back, it seemed to be all right and has got steadily worse. Pro tem. I am giving him another set of plugs but this is only a palliative. The thing which I cannot understand is why this trouble should concentrate itself on this particular car. I think I can definitely say that I have not seen any complaints of a similar sort from anybody else and we do not suffer from it on our Trials cars. I should be glad if you would show this note to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} personally as Professor Dodds, whilst being very patient about it and not telling other people, is getting terribly fed up with it.
